Policy Dialogue on Early Childhood Development
UNICEF in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Reform organised a two-day Policy Dialogue on 28th and 29th on Early Childhood Development (ECD) in Islamabad.Ms. Khadija Khan, CEO PAFEC, was a panelist on Day 1 in the session titled, ‘A Systems lens to ECD: Challenges and Opportunities’. The session aimed at identifying entry points and avenues for a systemic approach to the implementation of effective ECD models across a range of sectors. On Day 2, Ms. Khadija Khan made a presentation on Agha-Walidain – Informed Parents, an ECD approach implemented by Rupani Foundation in Sindh, Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Followed by this two-day Policy Dialogue, UNICEF invited Pakistan Alliance for Early Childhood to discuss a possible partnership to implement the Key Family Practices (KFPs) for ECD developed by UNICEF. After a series of discussions, UNICEF proposed to pilot these KFPs for ECD in Rawalpindi and Islamabad through the member organisations of PAFEC. In this connection, PAFEC developed a concept note and submitted it to UNICEF which has been approved.
